At Westminster Village Kentuckiana and Westminster Village Health Care Center we offer residential living, assisted living, short-term rehabilitation and skilled nursing services. We have answered some frequently asked questions for each of our levels of care on this page.

Residential Living

Office Hours

Our front office hours are Monday through Friday, from 8 am to 5 pm.

What is senior residential living?

Senior residential living is a community designed for those 60 and over that desire a carefree lifestyle and social engagement.

What are the prices?

Is there any private space available to use?

Residents may reserve the multi-purpose room for any special event with notice. Contact the front office if you would like to reserve this space.

What appliances come with the apartment?

Each apartment has a full kitchen with appliances.

Is the community pet friendly?

Yes, because at Westminster Village Kentuckiana we understand that pets are family, too, and we welcome you to have small pets that are less than 40 pounds. You must get final approval from the marketing office before bringing your pet to live in your apartment home. All pets (resident pets and visiting pets) must have up-to-date vaccination records and must be kept on a leash and under the control of their owner at all times when outside of individual apartments. Additionally, residents wishing to have a live in pet must be able to provide all care for their pet, including toileting needs.

Do I get an assigned parking spot?

All covered parking spots are assigned for a monthly fee. All open spots are available for residents and their guests.

Do you have a beauty salon/barber shop?

At Westminster Village Kentuckiana we have a beauty salon/barber shop on-site that offer a variety of services.

Is there a telephone in each apartment?

Each apartment is equipped with telephone hookups. If you would like telephone service we can help you set it up through the phone company. We provide a private area with public telephones for use by our residents. Residents are welcome to bring their own mobile device.

Is there access to cable television?

At Westminster Village Kentuckiana we offer apartment homes that are equipped with cable television hook-ups. We do provide complimentary cable television viewing in our social areas. Please contact the local cable provider for private cable television services.

Are activities provided?

We believe events and activities enrich our resident’s lives and have a powerful impact on one’s overall health and well-being. We create a fun, uplifting environment where our residents can be social, get involved, and enjoy their favorite hobbies and activities.

Is smoking permitted?

For the safety and health of our residents and staff, Westminster Village Kentuckiana is a smoke-free community. We do, however, have designated smoking areas outdoors. Please ask the font desk for the location of our designated outdoor smoking area.

Who do I talk to about questions in regard to financials, billing, and/or application paperwork?

At Westminster Village Kentuckiana we have a full-time business office manager. Our business office manager will answer any questions you may have regarding financial or billing concerns. To make an appointment with our business office manager, please contact the front desk.

Assisted Living

What is assisted living?

Assisted living is housing for adults 60 and over that provides assistance with activities of daily living. We offer housekeeping, laundry, and various other services to help each resident attain their highest level of independence.

Do you offer housekeeping?

Our friendly and professional staff cleans each apartment once a week.

What are the prices?

Can family or friends bring pets when visiting?

Pets are always welcome to visit. We ask that each pet have their vaccination records up-to-date and be kept on a leash and under the control of their owner when in public areas.

Is there any private space available to use?

You may reserve the activities lounge for any special event with notice. Contact the front office reception desk if you would like to reserve this space.

Do the apartments come with full kitchens?

Each assisted living apartment has a refrigerator, but does not offer a full kitchen.

Is there a dining option?

In assisted living, we offer three meals a day in our assisted living dining room. Our culinary services director works to create flavorful and nutritious meals for the benefit of our residents.

Skilled Nursing

Visiting Hours

Westminster Village Health Care Center has open visiting hours, based on the well-being of our residents. If you would like to visit before 8am or after 8pm please call in advance to ensure access.

Will Medicare cover my stay in the community?

If your Medicare card says “Hospital Insurance,” and you have had a qualifying hospital stay in the last 30 days, and require skilled nursing services, Medicare will generally pay 100% of your first 20 days in a skilled nursing community. Please contact the business office for more detailed coverage information specific to you or a loved one.

How often will a physician or health professional visit?

Generally, each resident sees a physician when they are admitted and every thirty days thereafter for the first 90 days. However, our nursing staff is in constant communication with each our physicians and physician visits may be more often in needed.

What articles of clothing should we bring?

We recommend bringing at least five changes of clothes and a pair of comfortable rubber-soled shoes. All items should be washed, clearly labeled with the resident’s name, and entered into the resident’s inventory log.

How is the laundry done? Can family members take laundry home?

If you would like us to do your laundry, please let us know upon admission. Family members can, of course, take care of their loved one’s laundry. If your family member will be washing your laundry, please provide a hamper with a lid and ensure it is picked up at least twice a week.

Each item of clothing is washed in an industrial machine at high temperatures. Please make sure the clothing that is brought is appropriate for washing and drying in these high temperatures. Each personal item must be labeled with the resident’s first and last name.

Is there someone who provides haircuts?

At Westminster Village Health Care Center we have a a beauty salon/barber shop. Hours, services, and appointments can be made through the front desk.

Can my loved one receive mail?

Mail is delivered to each resident Monday through Saturday.

You may also use our “Send a Greeting” feature where you can type out a note, and we will hand deliver it to your loved one for free. Our “Send a Greeting” feature also offers the option of paying a small fee for a postcard that is mailed to your loved one.

Can children visit?

We encourage children to visit, but we ask that you notify the charge nurse if anyone under the age of 12 will be in the community.

Can we bring a family pet to the community?

Your family pet is invited to visit as long as they are kept on a leash, kept under the control of their owner, cleaned up after, and up to date on vaccinations. Please bring vaccination records with you for review.

Is there any private space available to use?

You may reserve the activities lounge for any special event with notice.

Can I take my loved one home for a visit?

Residents may take a “leave of absence” with a physician’s authorization. This authorization can be arranged through our nursing staff. When leaving and returning the resident, or responsible party, must sign the “Leave of Absence” book in the nursing station.

Can I bring in my loved one’s favorite food?

Always consult with the nursing staff before bringing food to residents. Many of our residents have physician-ordered specific diets with limitations. Any food kept in the resident’s room must be dated and be stored in properly sealed containers.

Who do I talk to about food preferences? Are there alternate options to each day’s menu?

After admission our on-site dietary staff interviews all of our residents. Our registered dietitian keeps these meetings in mind when designing our dietary program.

We follow physician orders to meet the needs of each resident, while making sure the meals are enjoyable and full of flavor. We also administer oral supplements, as prescribed by physicians, and provide regular nutritional assessments by our dietitian. Alternate options are offered at every meal.

Will my loved one have telephone access?

Residents are more than welcome to bring their cell phones, and all of our rooms are equipped with a telephone hookup. Please inquire about service activation. There are also cordless telephones at each of the nurse’s stations that are available for resident use.

Will my loved one have Internet access?

For your convenience, we offer complimentary Wi-Fi.

Will my loved one’s room have a television?

Televisions are provided. If you would like to bring your own television from home please check with our maintenance director to ensure fire codes are followed.

Rehabilitation

How often will the rehabilitation staff work with my loved one?

When you arrive at Westminster Village Health Care Center you will be assessed and assigned a customized treatment plan. Each plan varies based on the needs of the resident.

How often will a physician or health professional visit?
